Sílvia Chicuecue, DVM, has been working in public health, social and epidemiological research for the last 10 years. Since 2010, she has been conducting health research studies, first with the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM) where she works for three years in malaria and entomology surveillance studies where I developed skills for monitoring the intensity of malaria by estimating the vector inoculation rate; determine the main vector and measure seasonal variations of the malaria vector. Later on with EGPAF, she manage and implemented research studies in TB, Pediatric HIV and HIV/AIDS and her primary responsibility for the development of research and program evaluation protocols and the coordination and implementation of studies including work with ethics review boards in Mozambique and the United States. She has taken on leadership roles, first as local coordinator of a new M&E Unit and CISM and later as the manager for m-Health studies at EGPAF. She has experience in managing grants and budget, working with donors and negotiating contracts. Since May 2016 she has worked at FHI360 Mozambique as a research manager, responsible for management of all research performed by the organization projects, including providing input into protocols, managing the IRB approval process, developing data collection tools for qualitative and quantitative studies, and overseeing data collection and analysis by staff and consultants. In 2019 she joint HAI – Beira as Mental Health Manager, leading 4 projects in this area. In May 2019 she joint ICAP to coordinate the evaluation of PrEP to serodiscordant couples in Zambézia Province. Silvia is a versatile person with strong training and facilitation skills as well as reporting research results to a wide range of audiences. Capable of working under pressure, she is a good team player with the ability to act independently in multidisciplinary and cross-cultural environments.
