Provides overall leadership for the management and implementation of the HIV prevention, and care and treatment strategies, with special focus on CDC funded projects. Supervise and coordinates all activities in the country, implementing the program in seven priority districts in South Africa. Manages in coordination with the Jhpiego Headquarters support, of approximately twenty-five million US dollars per year across HIV prevention and treatment projects. Directly supervises senior staff (9 senior management team members), and indirectly oversees the work of over 200 personnel. The VMMC program in Jhpiego has been a success for the last seven years, and Dr Mahomed has played a key role on ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation and reporting, as well as the strategic, programmatic, technical, and financial integrity of the project in South Africa and previously in Mozambique.
