
Jorge Manhique is PhD candidate at School of Social and Political Science, University of Lisbon. His research focuses on inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in international cooperation development programs. He has an LLM in International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy, from the Centre for Disability Law and Policy at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Jorge has over decade of experience working on disability rights issues in developing countries in Africa and Asia. He has experience in grantmaking and provision of technical assistance to organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), to advocate for the implementation of the CRPD, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in local and national development programs. He served as a consultant for various INGOs, OPDs, Foundations, UN and Government agencies on issues ranging from law reform, advocacy, community mobilization, program performance evaluation and project design and fundraising. Moreover, Mr. Manhique has an extensive experience in conducting empirical research, and have published over dozen peer reviewed articles, book chapter and reports, including situation analysis reports. Mr. Manhique is fluent in Portuguese (native speaker), English and fair communication and understanding of French.
