Women’s Agriculture Specialist

GRI is currently seeking a Women’s Agriculture Specialist for a long -term position with an anticipated USAID-funded Agriculture project in Mozambique.

Duties
  • Oversee strategic development and program deliverables for women’s empowerment and gender equity
  • Monitor budgets, grants and expenditures for gender programs
  • Manage project gender team
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with all program components
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual reports, work-plans, and success stories as required
  • Travel to regions to ensure successful delivery of program results
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief of Party
Requisites
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience with gender in agriculture, animal husbandry, agribusiness, value chain development, microfinance, or livelihood projects, 15 years preferred
  • BA/BS in agriculture, rural development, economic development, or similar required; MA preferred
  • Relevant experience facilitating community consultations
  • Experience designing and delivering capacity building trainings
  • Experience organizing women’s agricultural cooperative a plus
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Previous experience in Mozambique required
  • Nationals of Mozambique preferred
  • Previous experience with USAID a plus
  • Prior experience working on USAID programs preferred
  • Excellent management and administrative skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, U.S. and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional level fluency in English and Portuguese required
