Technician Mechanical – Auto (m/f)

Duties

• Responsible for safety & discipline in work area
• Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding and monitoring of the auto equipment and other related equipment and carry out the tasks assigned by Supervisor
• Ensure maximum operational availability of cranes by diagnostic work and repair methods
• Submit routine inspection and monitoring reports as required
• Carry out duties independently when called out and report breakdowns and faults
• Assume additional responsibility for auto equipment maintenance in the absence of Supervisor
• Ensure that emergency work is followed up by reporting to Supervisor
• Ensure work practice conforms to safety regulations and procedures
• Ensure that all preventive maintenance (mechanical) is conducted as defined in the system
• Attend breakdowns as reported by Planning & Admin Clerk on immediate basis
• Ensure accurate, up to date information is provided in the work order for input into the system
• Ensure that work order is generated (in coordination with planning clerk) for all mechanical work performed on the auto equipment
• Submit correct information about start time and end time of maintenance activity. Conduct maintenance activities as per defined timelines
• Obtain approval of supervisor before making purchase requisition and submitting to stores
• Ensures tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment for which his team is responsible

Requisites

• Education Grade 12 with specialization in mechanical systems (Preferable Diploma in mechanical engineering)
• Experience in container in sea port and/or heavy equipment environment (Mandatory 2 to 3 years)
• Experience in working on heavy equipment in ports, mining and steel industries
• Language Fluency in Portuguese and English
• Skills required Knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment, diesel engines, transmissions, pneumatic hydraulic systems, brakes Conversant with technical/parts manuals, and drawings
• Fully conversant with safety procedures
