  • Mozambique Integrated Malaria Program
  • Chemonics seeks a Surveillance, Monitoring, and Evaluation (SME) Specialist for a newly-awarded five-year, USAID-funded health initiative to assist the Government of Mozambique
  • The Integrated Malaria Program (IMaP) will contribute to reducing malaria mortality, morbidity, and parasitemia in targeted provinces across Mozambique. This will be achieved by increasing utilization and uptake of quality malaria prevention and control interventions
  • The project’s activities will improve the quality of implementation and use of facility and community-based malaria services and by strengthening the data flow between these systems. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world
Duties
  • The SME Specialist will build the capacity building of Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) and District Health Directorate (DDS), working closely with health officials to identify health system constraints and solutions for strengthening data quality and management at provincial, facility, and community levels
  • As part of IMaP’s provincial team in Cabo Delgado, s/he will work closely with the national team to establish relationships with DPS, conduct a provincial capacity needs assessment of the target province and its districts, and prioritize and formalize activities via a management capacity development plan
  • As part of the provincial team, the SME specialist will implement the management capacity development plan, with day-to-day oversight from the provincial manager and technical oversight from the IMaP national team, specifically the SME Senior Technical Advisor
  • The national team will provide technical support including updated tools and approaches and information sharing across teams
  • Locally supervised by the Provincial Manager, the SME Specialist will work closely with the rest of the IMaP provincial team and the Technical Advisors at the national level
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant technical experience in SME of malaria or other public health programs with increasing responsibility
  • Knowledge of USAID and its contractual and procurement requirements
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate clearly and concisely
  • Excellent written and verbal Portuguese, proficiency in English preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
