Capital Outsourcing Group Mozambique is hiring a Safety Officer for Ressano Garcia, in the Maputo province for a 3 month period.
Duties
- Input and updating of Safety, Health and Environmental Plan for projects under your responsibility
- Ensuring that the applicable project risk assessments are updated and maintained for each site under your control, as well as the development of site specific risk assessments as required per project
- To ensure the regular update of the SHE file at all times
- Ensuring that all incidents that come to your attention are reported to the applicable persons, recorded, investigated and closed out in line with Capital Procedures and Client Requirements
- Carrying out of inspections at set frequencies as determined by various requirements
- Conducting of daily toolbox talks, including incident recall awareness and keeping record thereof
- Attendance and participation of relevant SHE meetings
- Preparation and attendance of monthly construction and client related SHE Audits
- Conducting of Capital specific construction inductions for site visitors, new personnel and sub-contractors, record thereof and issuing of induction cards to attendees
- Ordering and issuing of Personal Protective Equipment and maintaining adequate stock levels at all times on project sites
- Development of Safe Working Procedures in conjunction with Site Supervisors and ensuring the training of relevant personnel on these procedures at the required frequencies
- To complete and submit any safety, health and environmental report required by the Client or Capital at the specified frequencies
- Examine ways to improve SHE standards
- Monitor compliance to SHE Requirements on site by physically inspecting the work area on regular basis
- Maintain good working relationships between SHE Officer, employees, client and Capital management representatives in order to facilitate a safe working environment
- Identify and tracking of training needs (new or expiring) and notifying of the relevant persons to facilitate the required training
- Ensuring that emergency procedures are updated with site specific information and that personnel are made aware of procedure requirements
- Planning, practicing and report writing of emergency drills 1 x every 3 months
- Facilitation and tracking of closing out of all Safety Related audit findings
- Ensuring the return of project Safety Files to SHE Co-Ordinator when projects are completed
Requisites
- Minimum 3 years experience
- Good computer skills (proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good Communication Skills
- Good understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental legal and system requirements
- SAMTRAC(Safety Management training course)
- Incident Investigation
- HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment)
- OHS ACT
- Fluent in both Portuguese and English
