Johanniter International Assistance

Johanniter International Assistance is recruiting a Radio Operation and IT Officer, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Safety and Security Management:
  • Actively supporting Johanniter's values and shaping the work of the mission security team in line with these values
  • Support the implementation of the country's security strategy in line with Johanniter's overall strategy
  • Communication:
  • Communication/monitoring of daily movements, making radio contacts with the baseline and producing a daily radio protocol report
  • Ensure daily management of telecommunication equipment
  • Ensure correct and complete charging of VHF, HF, satellite phones, cameras and GPS batteries
  • Participate in the installation and maintenance of telecommunication equipment on the bases
  • Ensures the implementation of communication SOPs during the movement and follows up on the implementation of the developed movement plan
  • Record messages in the radio logbook
  • If necessary, act as a relay between the bases and/or the teams
  • Monitor the position of teams in the field and when travelling in town
  • Personnel and Training:
  • Training teams in the use of equipment and communication procedures (cell call, scanning, radio alphabet)
  • Information Technology:
  • Provide IT support to the team including laptops installations, minor repairs, server monitoring, creations/requests of emails, shared folders etc.
  • Provide relevant advice on matters relating to IT
  • Support IT related procurement
  • Safeguarding: Contributes actively to the implementation of the JIA Code of Conduct
Requisites
  • Professional Qualification and Experience:
  • Technical college degree or bachelor’s degree; Master degree would be an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Radio operations and IT
  • Knowledge of security SOPs and related issues
  • Skills:
  • Full working proficiency in English and Portuguese (written as well as spoken)
  • Good reporting and writing skills
  • Previous experience working with an NGO or UN-organization is a strong asset
  • Structured and independent work mode
  • Knowledge on the humanitarian principles
  • Team player
  • Good abilities to support and orient a team
  • Able to perform well under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Previous experience monitoring staff movement, radio and IT installations
