World Food Programme is recruiting a Programme Assistant, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • Under the supervision of the MDG-1c Coordinator, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Support in conducting the pre-tests of the SBCC activities and materials in the field
  • Liaise and supervise the NGO radio partner
  • Strengthen the partnership with OURO NEGRO and WFP support to the radio novel through attending the monthly meetings
  • Responsible to evaluate partners progress through monthly reports
  • Support in clearance of funds from partners
  • Keep monthly track of WFP- MGD1 partnerships (end of the contract, open items, deadline for extensions of MoU)
  • Prepare extensions of MoU and payments of next tranches
  • Participate actively in the planning and revision of the radio scripts for the radio programs produced by the NGO partner
  • Support material distribution in the field to the health comites members a(t-shirts, caps, bags, manuals, etc)
  • Support in conducting the communications with other partners at central level, including UN, in order to create synergies with the MGD1 project
  • Conduct monitoring and supervision visits to the MDG1 project in the field
  • Support in documenting several processes of the SBCC and food fortification project: preparatory Phase, implementation phase, lessons learned, and results
  • Support the MGD1 semester report to the Government and to the donor
  • Assist in other activities and tasks as required
Requisites
  • University Degree in nutrition, public health, communication for social change and development, social sciences, or development studies
  • At least 2 years work experience in community health or other community development projects
  • Experience with SBCC/Health promotion project
  • Experience with community nutrition or public health projects
  • Experience in capacity building and training activities
  • Familiarity of the economic, political and social context of Mozambique
  • Familiarity with Public Private Partnerships
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate and work with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage
  • Excellent Portuguese writing and speaking skills
  • Desirable Requirements
  • Preparedness to travel in the country
  • Duration of employment: 11 months
