FH Association is recruiting a Program Director (m/f), to be based in Beira, Mozambique.
Description
  • Food For The Hungry Association is a Christian non-profit NGO, located at Av. Eduardo Mondlane No. 544, Ponta-Gêa. Beira city, is recruiting for its staff a Program Director with the objective of oversee all FH Mozambique program and develop staff capacity in program design and implementation, to be based in Beira

Duties
  • Integrate all donor programs to maximize the transformation impact and thus better meet the values, vision and purpose of FH
  • Provide overall technical leadership to achieve better results
  • Prepare and monitor the implementation of the annual work plan, monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports of activities and achievements
  • Take the lead in identifying new donors and projects for FH Mozambique program
  • Develop proposals for government agencies and other donors in collaboration with support staff in Washington DC
  • In coordination with the M & E Coordinator ensure that all projects follow the monitoring and evaluation guidelines and that activity are consistently implemented in all programs
  • Monitor program indicators, evaluate, and make recommendation for improvement in program implementation
  • Be the focal point for program policy development and ensure that all programming adheres to best practice principles of participation from program design, through implementation, and M&E
  • Understand and implement the program in coordination with our partners, maximizing FH's strengths with the different partners and program needs
  • Take responsibility for all programmatic reporting to donors, appropriate GoM ministries, and other entities
  • Ensure that the right people are in the right place to ensure strategy implementation, identify critical skills gaps in the team, and manage the resources to deliver those skills
  • Ensure that all employees assigned to the program have individual performance targets aligned with the program strategy, which are continuously monitored
  • Involve staff in planning, goal setting and budgeting and keep it informed about program performance
  • Train and advise employees to improve performance and help them reach their potential
  • Ensure that financial management and control are effective and fully integrated into program plans and activities
  • Effectively manage grants, including timely and accurate accountability to donors
  • Coordinate and communicate with the safety focal point and the DN to ensure that the project team receives adequate support with safety information and that the duty of care is observed
Requisites
  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Christian commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH’s Christian foundation and beliefs as expressed in The Heartbeat: our Values, Vision, and Purpose
  • Excellent people skills including warmth and sensitivity, conversational, able to relate to and effectively communicate with people from different cultures (at various levels within the organization)
  • Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems and/or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated computer operating skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Google platform, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or GoToMeeting
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and coordinate work, ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes while working creatively and independently both in the field and in the office
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong people management skills/interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, teach and mentor staff and volunteers
  • Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups
  • Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries
  • Familiarity with the humanitarian aid system and ability to understand donor and governmental requirements
  • Previous large-scale project management experience
  • Experience with USAID and other international donors
  • Knowledge of Human Resources, including recruiting and hiring
  • Master’s degree in International Development Studies, Public Health or other related field
  • 7 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Portuguese required
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
