JSI/WE is seeking a Training Specialist for the National Youth Institute’s (INJ) upcoming Eu Sou Capaz Project. This regional initiative - to be implemented in Mozambique jointly with the Ministry of Labor, Gender, and Social Action (MTGAS) and the INJ - aims to increase girls’ and women’s educational attainment and earning, and to strengthen institutional capacity to implement gender equality policies. This position is contingent upon an award from the INJ
- The M&E Specialist is a consultancy position based in Maputo and will report to the Team Lead. They are responsible for all monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities under the award. The M&E Specialist will develop and maintain the systems to collect and analyze information on inputs, outputs, and outcomes of the project. They will ensure the development, oversight, and implementation of the Eu Sou Capaz performance management plan. They will also interpret and report on project results to stakeholders at all levels of the project
Duties
- Collaborate with the Team Lead to develop the project M&E plan and tools for implementation
- Provide technical assistance to MTGAS and INJ counterparts, including technical advice in the design and implementation of data collection exercises
- Maintain systems to collect and analyze information on inputs, outputs, and outcomes of the project
- Support the project team to develop, capture, consolidate, and report on mutually identifiable indicators and ensure high quality and timely reporting of data and monitoring
- Review and synthesize data for compilation and interpretation in project reports to inform technical deliverables
- Ensure data is reviewed and utilized throughout project implementation
- Identify best practices and provide recommendations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead
Requisites
- Master’s degree in economics, geography, statistics, or related area
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and production of monitoring and evaluation reports
- Demonstrated applied skills in monitoring, evaluation, and learning methods and use of data for technical assistance projects
- Deep knowledge of the institutional, social, and cultural reality of Mozambique required
- Excellent communication skills, particularly on data, in written and spoken English and Portuguese required
- Ability to tailor data collection approaches to local needs, interests, and capabilities preferred
- Experience in designing tools and databases for implementation of adolescent girls and young women programs preferred
