Grants Management & Fundraising Coordinator

WaterAid

Wateraid is looking for a Grants Management and Fundraising Coordinator (GMFC) to join our programme in Mozambique. Based in Maputo you will be responsible for the effective management of funds and lead the fundraising initiatives throughout WaterAid Mozambique programme. The position is critical to the management of all donor relations and will work closely with the WaterAid Mozambique programme and the finance and fundraising teams of the WaterAid members.

Duties
Fundraising
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of a Fundraising Strategy and Annual Fundraising Plans for WaterAid in Mozambique country programme
  • Conduct regular donor scoping and support the country programme to secure new funding streams for programmes and projects
  • Work with Mozambique Country Programme and Fundraising teams in WaterAid members (Australia, Japan, Sweden, UK and USA) to develop and/or identify suitable projects to offer donors
  • Ensure effective practices in management of existing, new and prospective donors
  • Initiate and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events in Mozambique and maximise the potential for new opportunities for income generation
  • Assist Programme Partners to develop and implement their fundraising strategies to meet ongoing and strategic WASH development needs in Mozambique
Donor Contracts Management
  • Ensure effective operational planning and budget setting in line with donor contractual agreements
  • Maintain an effective contract management system for the Country Programme, including management of all critical donor contract information and reporting processes
  • Assist all WaterAid and partner staff in understanding and conforming to specific donor requirements in all aspects of project implementation, management and monitoring
  • Initiate and coordinate all funding contracts, from proposal development to monitoring and report writing, and donor relationship building for the Country Programme
  • Provide oversight and backstopping for the contractual requirements of donor funded projects to ensure good contract management and good donor relations
Corporate responsibilities
  • Provide support in the negotiation of donor agreements and their clearance by WaterAid UK, Head of Region and Country Representative
  • Review, monitor and document donor funding, policies and trends, and their implications on the WASH Sector
  • Contribute to the development of publications and communications materials which have relevance to meeting fundraising and donor relations objectives
  • Ensure capacity needs of the WaterAid staff and partners are met in order to enable each programme and partners to effectively manage their fundraising activities and donor reporting requirements
  • Contribute to strategic discussions as they relate to resource mobilisation and allocation and determination of investment priorities
  • Review off all documentation and communication with donors, including proposals, narrative and financial reports for contractual compliance
  • Review all key partner documentation eg plans and budgets, funding agreements to ensure compliance with donor requirements
  • Work closely with the Finance team to develop monthly updated CP funding matrix
Requisites
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in a relevant field
  • Post graduate qualification in social sciences, marketing or development studies would be an added advantage (desirable)
  • Ability to read and interprete figures & budgets (desirable)
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fundraising and managing a range of donor contracts
  • Experience of working within an international charity environment
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Experience in developing funding proposals
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Representational skills including experience in developing relationships with government and donors agencies at senior level
  • Experience in training and capacity building in fundraising
  • Strong marketing and public relation skills
  • Good understanding of some major donors (eg DFID, EU, USAID, AusAid, World Bank, UN)
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of donors contracts (desirable)
  • Experience in developing fundraising strategies for mid sized organisations (desirable)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision (desirable)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to attract and secure new funds and the skills necessary to build and sustain existing relationships
  • Strong numerical ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditure
  • Strong analytical thinking
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively within WaterAid community (staff, key stakeholders and audiences)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven success in generating convincing proposals, raising funds and writing reports for trusts/ foundations, individuals, corporations or statutory/ multilateral donors
  • Ability to plan own work, setting priorities and completing them, including ability to work under pressure to compete demands and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Fluency in English
  • A good understanding of integrated water resource management, sanitation and hygiene promotion projects (desirable)
  • Ability to develop innovative approaches to development problems (desirable)
  • Communication skills, both for a professional/specialist and lay audience (desirable)
  • Public speaking skills (desirable)
  • Articulate with above average presentation skills (desirable)
