Forestry Supervisors

Florestas de Niassa is recruiting a Forestry Supervisors, to be based in Lichinga and Niassa, Mozambique.

Duties

• Supervises and coordinates one or more crews engaged in daily forestry activities
• Plans, directs and controls the use of resources such as labour, tools, machinery, vehicles, materials using the best forestry or technical methods to achieve an efficient operation
• Monitors and drives individual task performance and work quality to achieve Company’s standards
• Measures accurately individual and crew performance and records for payment purposes
• Monitors usage of materials against production standards
• Drives the training and development of crew members
• Assesses work sites, tools and work methods to ensure safety of both people and equipment
• Ensures protection and management of the environment in the course of his/her day to day activities
• Participates in recruitment of labour and disciplinary processes of crew members
• Participates in plantation fire protection activities and fire standby

Requisites

• Diploma or Certificate in Forestry
• At least 5 years hands on experience as a supervisor of teams of up to 50 people in a commercial forestry environment
• Individual must be a good problem solver
• Short courses in any of the following will be an added advantage:
• Supervision, Production Planning, Basic Forest Fire Fighting, Disciplinary Procedures of Employees and Safety in the work place
