Oxfam is recruiting an EFSVL Assistant (m/f), to be based in Macomia, Mozambique.
Description
  • Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty. We are looking for an EFSVL Assistant
  • Location – Macomia – Cabo Delgado
  • Contract: 7 months contract upon donor grant confirmation
  • Job Purpose: To form part of the Oxfam team assessing, analyzing and responding to the Food Security & Livelihood requirements of an emergency or crisis. EFSVL Assistants work within the EFSVL section of the programme team to ensure the quality implementation and monitoring of Oxfam and partner projects within a designated area of responsibility
Duties
  • Contribute to the day to day implementation of Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods relief and early recovery projects, including beneficiary identification and registration, relief distribution, and other project activities
  • Support EFSVL assessment through conducting surveys, focus group discussions, and other forms of data collection in the field and work with the team to conduct regular monitoring activities especially baselines/end line surveys and post activity monitoring
  • Support EFSVL team on day to day data gathering through use of CTO survey toll
  • Ensure that assessment, monitoring and project data is accurately recorded and work to maintain programme documentation as required
  • Represent Oxfam in different communities and develop strong working relationships with local authorities and community groups whilst explaining the nature and purpose of response activities
  • When relevant, work closely with partner organizations to efficiently implement activities in a productive and collaborative manner
  • Contribute to the EFSVL team’s analysis of the emergency food security and livelihoods context, identification of needs, and finalization of projects to address these needs
  • Working with community members to facilitate the program implementation and proactively achieve solutions to problems arising
  • Participate in team planning and diligently follow through with internal requests for operational support from other teams in the office
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with other EFSVL team members, other Oxfam programs and partners participate in training and capacity building initiatives and seek to turn learning into improved practice
Requisites
  • Post-Secondary Qualification in social sciences, agriculture, economics and business, or other discipline relating to food security and livelihoods. Experience managing food security & livelihoods programming could substitute for a formal qualification
  • Strong oral and written communication ability in English and relevant local language, and computer literacy
  • Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) and local languages spoken in Cabo Delgado Province (kimakonde, Kimácua, Kisswahili or Kimwani)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in food security, livelihoods, or community mobilization work
  • Attention to detail and good organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to present concise reports
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relations across diverse and multi-cultural teams
  • Willingness to travel (in sometimes challenging environments) at short notice over the course of the role
  • Clear understanding of, and commitment to, humanitarian protection standards, Sphere Minimum Standards, gender issues and Code of conduct
  • A commitment to the aims and objectives of Oxfam, including equity, gender and diversity
  • Previous working experience, particularly at field implementation level, with Oxfam, other INGO or relevant agency
  • Experience in emergency relief programmes or early recovery work, particularly areas within the food security and livelihoods sector
  • Have a residence in Macomia or willing to be based in Macomia
