WCS is recruiting a Conservation Monitoring Technician, to be based Niassa.
Duties
Interest and capacity in ecological research and monitoring, a high degree of computer and technical literacy and a willingness to learn
Further, the positions requires a high level of attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
Further the successful candidate will be expected to be able to handle significant time in the field under often basic and challenging conditions
Requisites
Educational background in Natural Resource/ Forestry Management or related fields
Minimum of 2-years field experience working in conservation areas
Proven ability to use technological tools for conservation, including GPS, data recording softwares, data management programs (GIS, Excel)
Excellent oral and written communications skills in Portuguese and English, particularly relating to scientific technical writing and ability to transfer technical knowledge and skills to others
Self-motivated, disciplined and comfortable working in rudimentary and remote field camps for extended periods of time
Flexibility, optimism, good humour, passion for excellence, self-motivated to achieve a collective purpose
