CONTACT is recruiting a Community Liaison Officer (CLO), to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
- Reporting to the Community and Social Affairs Coordinator, the Community and Social Affairs Supervisor, the Community and Social Affairs Manager, and the Socioeconomic Development Vice President (VP), the position exists to enable the Project and the local communities to: build and maintain strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect; present Project update to the community, vis-a-vis present community concerns and grievances to the company; ensure that issues are resolved promptly, fairly and consistently; on the one hand facilitating project operations and social management programs through engagement with the communities
- Regular engagement with community stakeholders, including local civil society organizations, households, and vulnerable groups, with the aim of building the trust and respect of the community; understanding how community expectations, needs, interests, concerns, and levels of influence might affect project activities, this forms the basis of engagement as well how project activities might affect community wellbeing and community dynamics; stakeholder mapping: understanding and mapping various community stakeholders and their needs, interests, concerns and levels of influence in a way that can used for project decision making
- Action plan: Identify opportunities from feedback and determine actions, revisit goals, and plan next steps for follow-up and future engagement; capture engagement activities carried out and submit daily reports to the line manager about the situation in community
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field
- Comply with mandatory HSE trainings (HSE Induction and the e-learnings One MAESTRO for All, Safety Culture & Golden Rules)
- Knowledge of local customs, cultures and community dynamics in the project area
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (oral and written)
- Skill in local languages of Cabo Delgado
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Empathy and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of community members
- Ability to build trust and relationships with diverse groups of people
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in dynamic and challenging environments
- Availability and ability to travel to remote areas to carry out activities
