Oxfam is recruiting a Business Development Manager, to be based in Mozambique.
Description
- The Business Development Manager will provide strategic support on resource mobilization across different thematic areas in the region
- They will be supporting the development and implementation of the regions resource mobilization strategies; while building partnerships with donors and civil society stakeholders; identifying new funding opportunities and addressing key financial and reputational risks
- Contract type: Fixed Term – 3 months
- Location: Any country of the Southern Africa countries with right to work (Malawi/Mozambique/Zambia/Zimbabwe)

- Reference and integrity checks once offer is agreed week of 27th April to week of 4th May

Requisites
- The person: We are looking for an individual who is dynamic, charismatic and credible leader with the following:
- Minimum requirement is a Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Law, Public Policy, Economics, or International Development or other relevant experience
- At least 6 years’ experience in leadership and business development/resource mobilization, donor engagement and relationship management, and proposal development and grant acquisition
- Excellent understanding of different aspects of quality programming (for example: partnership, participation, accountability, innovation, gender and monitoring, evaluation and learning) and how these can be incorporated into different interventions
- Demonstrable experience and success in engaging with bilateral and multilateral donors for an international agency like Oxfam
- Ability to develop programme design documents – including strong appreciation of theories of change (logic models, log-frames), contextual analyses (e.g. power, gender), budgets, MEAL plans
- Demonstrable understanding of programme/project cycle management practices in development programming
- Strong technical competence in research, learning and monitoring and evaluation methods theory and practice; and, good critical grasp of latest sector thinking, codes, standards and practice; Evidence of leadership of impact assessment processes within an INGO or other institution
- Demonstrated ability to devise and implement resource mobilization strategies
- Proven ability to identify new business opportunities and partnerships
- Experience of working with technical teams to develop program proposals that are funded by institutional donors
- Strong networking, representational, and negotiation skills
- Experience of skills capacity building in relation to programme funding or related field
- Superior verbal and written communications skills in English with ability to analyse and synthesise complex issues
- Good familiarity with government decision-making processes, both political and technical, including budget processes, appropriation, protocols, and communications
- Strong proven ability to identify and articulate strategic and policy issues through effective oral and written briefs
- Excellent computer skills, including various office applications and internet navigation
- Ability to work in a cross regional Team and support work across the region
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of donor grants
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team across institutional boundaries and business units
- Ability to make effective, timely decisions and take prudent risks.
- Knowledge of region political, economic and social aspects
- Good knowledge and awareness of issues related to Oxfam’s strategic objectives and theories of change
- Some knowledge of Portuguese will be an added advantage
