Agricultural Value Chain Specialists – Mozambique (m/f)


CNFA is recruiting an Agricultural Value Chain Specialists - Mozambique (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
  • CNFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for Agricultural Value Chains Specialists for the upcoming USAID-funded Feed the Future Mozambique Market Systems Activity. This Activity will facilitate the development of a competitive agricultural market system that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable in the provision of goods and services demanded by actors. The approach for this activity will help identify and minimize the root causes of market failure that disadvantage and exclude the vulnerable, women, and youth. This Activity will also create incentives for market actors to invest in developing and sustaining productive relationships for the efficient delivery of goods and services and an improved enabling and regulatory environment for agricultural sector growth. This Activity provides USAID the opportunity to target solutions such as: build an inclusive and responsive financial system for rural individuals and SMEs; address the inefficiencies in the inputs distribution system; establish strong and transparent relationships between actors; among others
  • At least seven (7) years of experience implementing and leading interventions that increase the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains required, with experience in Zambezia, Nampula, and Sofala strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest developments in advancing best practices in value chain development that reaches women, youth, and other marginalized groups is required
  • Understanding of and broad networks with key actors in the inputs and services sectors
  • Experience facilitating business linkages for producers and MSMEs with input and output markets
  • Experience strengthening capacity of farmers, farmer organizations, unions, and trade associations
  • Expertise in the latest developments in advancing best practices in value chain development that reach women, youth, and vulnerable populations
  • Experience working with the government to develop policies and guidelines
  • Expertise in Mozambican agricultural practices and their effect on the environment preferred
  • Experience working on USAID-funded or other international donor-funded projects is preferred
  • Strong English written and oral skills required; knowledge of Portuguese preferred
