Description

  • The Accountant is responsible for preparing cash requests to the US office, preparing monthly sub-award accruals, and tracking all payments to vendors and sub-awards. The accountant will also be responsible for other general accounting duties, including accounting for and reconciliation of sub-award advances. This person will also be responsible for the account reconciliations for all travel expenses for MSSFPO staff. The accountant will also participate in audit preparation and calendar year-end statutory and financial reporting
Duties
  • Supports office operations by maintaining office accountability well recorded
  • Working with Finance and administration manager and home office, implements office policies by following standards and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making necessary adjustments
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Preparing payroll voucher to record the payroll disbursement and reporting and paying all payroll and taxes
  • Assisting in the coordination of travel for program staff, international technical staff and/or consultants and in preparing and processing expense reports (flight arrangements, hotel reservations and logistics, such as per diem, visas, and donor approval, if applicable)
  • Examining all financial documents for payment are checked for completeness, accuracy, and validity of financial data, including accounting classification and computations
  • Support the Finance and Administration manager to Record financial transactions into Sage X-3 and preparing monthly field reports
Requisites
  • Must possess the following requirements with or without reasonable accommodation Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Five+ years’ accounting experience with increasing responsibility
  • Experience with preparation of annual 1099 tax forms, either in-house or through third-party vendors
  • Familiarity with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) rules and regulations for expenditures under federal awards
  • Experience with electronic banking and foreign currency transactions
  • Experience with general ledger account reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills to create conditional formatting, formulas, and sorting, vlookups, SUMIFS, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work appropriately with confidential data
  • Experience working with international staff

  • Preferred Skills, Abilities, And Functions:
  • Five plus years of experience in the non-profit sector
  • Sage X-3 software enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience
  • A process improvement mindset
