
Mr. Abel Joaquim Zico is an experienced socioeconomic expert and is a certified environmental and social consultant by the Mozambique's Ministry of Land and Environment with 15 years of experience in the industry. He is well-versed in Mozambican, land use and resettlement legal frameworks, socioeconomic compensations, environmental law as well as international social and environmental safeguards, including those provided by the World Bank, African Development Bank, and other international and national organizations. Mr. Abel possesses expertise in land acquisition processes, resettlement action plans conflict resolution, socioeconomic compensations schemes, assessment of social and environmental impacts of projects, data collection and public consultation. He has worked for both private sector and public sector clientele in sectors such energy, food, urban sanitation and tourism sector. All projects worked by the Mr. Abel are related to socio-economic and environmental sustainability and looks to the local communities engagement in local development strategies and projects. The inclusion of disadvantageous and vulnerable people and communities in the development programs and processes is one of his main focus.
