TechnoServe Mozambique is one of TechnoServe’s largest programs, with a 15-year continuous presence and an excellent reputation for catalyzing transformational change in Mozambique.

This is an anticipated USAID/Mozambique Feed the Future program, a potential 5-year effort, which, if awarded to TechnoServe, would be expected to begin in late 2013 or early 2014 focusing primarily in the Nacala and Beira corridors. The project intends to increase smallholder incomes by promoting market-oriented, competitive businesses in priority food and cash crop sectors namely oilseeds/pulses, fruit and cashew value chains.

Description

TechnoServe is looking for two (2) Value Chain Leads, to be based in one of TechnoServe’s provincial offices (Nampula orChimoio) with frequent travel to the field and to Nampula and Maputo. Each Value Chain Lead is an expert in their value chain, and responsible for leading all aspects of the chains/components of the project which they are managing – including strategic and operational. They should have solid overall knowledge of the value chain, including production, post-harvest, processing, marketing etc. and an excellent network in the industry at a national, regional and global level.

Requisites
  • 8 years’ international or regional experience with successful value chain development projects in the technical area of management responsibility
  • 8 years’ experience on projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries
  • Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Significant relevant private sector experience, for example, at senior levels of a national or multi-national agri-business
  • Excellent national, regional and global industry network
  • Innovative, creative, solution oriented
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to agricultural development management or related fields. such as: agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness
  • Portuguese or Spanish language ability preferred
