The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation (PCF) is recruiting for a Short-term consultancy: Training on Fundraising, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description

  • In Mozambique, PCF works with three local partner organisations to improve access to inclusive and equitable quality primary education with the goal to improve the competencies on the literacy and numeracy among boys and girls
Objective and participants
  • PCF provides funding to local partner organisations and aims to strengthen their organisational capacities. To support this goal, PCF would like to offer a training on Fundraising for staff working in this area (e.g. fundraising officer, organisational and project management staff)
  • The training will enable participants to strengthen their fundraising capacity, with the aim of diversifying funding sources, reducing external dependence, and remaining a strong, credible and innovative organisation within a highly diverse social, political, economic and educational context
  • The participants will be selected from PCF’s partner organisations in Mozambique, which are medium-sized NGOs with some knowledge and experience in fundraising. A total of 15 participants (approximately 5 people per organisation) will attend.
Tentative Agenda
  • The consultancy will be tailored to the specific needs and expertise of PCF’s partner organisations in Mozambique and will be developed in close collaboration with the PCF headquarters and the PCF Country Office in Mozambique. The agenda should cover the following:
Fundraising Strategy
  • How to develop a Fundraising Strategy with fundraising goals, target audiences, fundraising methods and different types of fundraising such as individual donations, grants, corporate sponsorships
  • How to reconcile fundraising ambition and needs with the given resources
Fundraising Ethics and Legal Consideration
  • An analysis of the Mozambican legal Framework related to Fundraising
  • Fundraising ethics and legal considerations such as donor confidentiality, conflicts of interest, fundraising transparency, data protection, and understanding the legal framework for fundraising activities
Fundraising Communication, Digital Strategies, and Partnerships
  • Crafting compelling fundraising messages, using storytelling techniques, and tailoring messages to different communication channels
  • Online fundraising and digital marketing, identifying suitable grant opportunities for NGOs working in education, youth and innovations
  • Fundraising in the private sector
Duties
  • Design and circulate a needs assessment questionnaire in advance; integrate findings into the agenda and training content
  • Develop and facilitate a 3–4-day fundraising workshop for fundraising officers, organisational and project management staff of PCF’s partner organisations
  • Cover the training content with theory and practical exercises
  • Provide a follow-up assignment enabling participants to apply their learning in practice
  • Collaborate closely with PCF headquarters and the Mozambique Country Office
Dates, Language and Place
  • Dates: The assignment will take place between 14 - 18 September 2026
  • Duration: the training will not exceed 4 days (excluding arrival and departure, excluding preparation and post-training assignment)
  • Language: The workshop will be delivered in Portuguese
  • Logistics: Costs for transport, accommodation, and meals are covered by PCF

  • A follow-up assignment for the participants shall also be part of the consultancy package (participants return to their work and apply their learning); the exact format will be agreed with the facilitator
