Chemonics is recruiting a Team Leader (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • Chemonics International seeks a Team Leader (TL) for a U.K. Department for International Development (DFID) funded, Transparency and Accountability for Inclusive Development project (TAcID) in Mozambique. TAcID will seek to improve the quality of basic services through increased government transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. Through the empowerment of women, youth, and marginalised groups and civil society-at-large to engage with government at all levels, the project will focus on improved access and quality of public services such as education, healthcare and family planning, water, sanitation and hygiene/WASH, nutrition, social protection, extractive sector development, and rural infrastructure
Duties
  • Provide overall leadership in implementing the project’s strategic objectives related to technical areas including citizen engagement, social accountability, and transparency, as well as contractual and financial management
  • Supervise technical and administrative staff in Maputo and regional offices
  • Serve as Chemonics’ official representation in maintaining communication among all relevant parties, including DFID/Mozambique, local and regional partners, and officials of the Government of Mozambique
  • Ensure high-quality and timely submission of all reporting requirements in English
  • Conduct field visits to regional activities and participate in project-supported events
Requisites
  • Master’s degree preferred in international development, international affairs, or another relevant degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managing and implementing donor-funded projects (DFID preferred) focused citizen engagement, social accountability, and good governance in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably in Mozambique
  • Thorough understanding of public services related to target vulnerable populations, including women, youth, people with disabilities, and other marginalized populations in Mozambique or similar countries
  • Must be able to work with a wide range of counterparts and beneficiaries, from DFID representatives and senior-level Mozambican Government officials to NGO representatives and grassroots civil society
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese
