TechnoServe is recruiting a Senior Business Advisor (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Manage team of Business Advisor and Business Counselors, ensure activities and data collection are done on time and with quality
  • Advise team on key business management skills and tools appropriate for women entrepreneurs
  • Collect lessons learned from the field on best practices for women to grow their businesses and better perform as mobile agents and integrate them in our program
  • Updating curriculum
  • Improving delivery of training and coaching sessions based on women’s needs,
  • Updating M&E tools and indicators to capture relevant information on and for women entrepreneurs and agents
  • Lead on the following key interventions and report on results:
  • Mobilization and selection phases of women entrepreneurs by 1) selecting and linking with various communications service providers and communication channels and 2) developing appropriate marketing material for our beneficiaries
  • Coordinate communications for the project through networks, social media, and conferences
  • Supervise the aftercare program for leading BWC women entrepreneurs
  • Actively engage and build capacity of key partners in the financial and distribution sectors to clearly communicate women entrepreneurs’ needs, how to better serve these customers and linking our participants to their services
  • Write-up best practices in a comprehensive and clearly presented way and share with other programs, regional teams and global practices
  • Support in the expansion strategy for BWC
  • Work with M&E lead to monitor and evaluate progress of activities and ensure data quality
  • The Senior Business Advisor will report to the Program Manager and will have a dotted line to the Strategic Initiatives Manager and Associate Program Manager for Mozambique. The Senior Business Advisor is expected to be self-driven and pro-active but will be supported by members of TechnoServe’s local Mozambique team, and will have access to the Mozambique country offices as well as the Entrepreneurship and Gender Practice leads
Requisites
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in the private sector in management consulting, market research, banking, running own business or related field
  • Relevant educational qualification (preferably Master level) in Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Solid understanding of small businesses and the entrepreneurship and financial sectors in Mozambique
  • High sense of organization, meticulous attention to detail and methodological
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – track record of building relationships with stakeholders and positively managing teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing gender equality
  • Ability to work and think independently, creatively and flexibly
  • Pro-active, driven, disciplined and hard-working
  • Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses, reports and presentations
  • Fluent English and Portuguese required
  • Experience with interactive, adult learning methodology is a plus
