Public Health Specialist – Pediatric HIV/AIDS Treatment

US Embassy is recruiting a Public Health Specialist - Pediatric HIV/AIDS Treatment, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • The Public Health Specialist (Pediatric Treatment) is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring pediatric HIV care and treatment programs and activities designed to scale up and improve the provision of HIV care and treatment for children
  • In this capacity, she/he will provide comprehensive public health technical and managerial advice and assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and implementing partners to ensure results as established for pediatric care and treatment activities under the President\\\'s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)
  • Job holder will work in close collaboration with the MOH and agency and inter-agency public health colleagues to ensure linkages to other HIV/AIDS programs that will result in expansion and improved prevention, follow-up, care and Antiretroviral treatment (ART) services for children infected with HIV
  • Position has no direct supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Care and Treatment Branch Chief

Requisites
  • Medical degree (six years - licensure) with training in public health is required
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible work in HIV/AIDS or pediatric clinical care public health programs that includes both diagnosis, treatment and follow up of HIV in children and coordination with the local ministry of health and non-governmental and community based organizations is required
  • Level III English (fluency in speaking, reading and writing) is required
  • Level IV Portuguese (fluency in speaking, reading and writing) is required
