Description
  • The U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Specialist (HIV Case Finding Advisor) within the office of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Duties
  • Job holder serves as the health technical expert and contact for the agency on activities aimed at HIV case finding, including national program. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and results monitoring for agency case finding program activities conducted in collaboration with various levels of public health stakeholders; day-to-day program and administrative management; and coordination and collaboration with other PEPFAR agencies to ensure project implementation addresses program strategic objectives and internationally recognized public health standards and best practices
  • This management role requires public health technical leadership, results-oriented analysis, advocacy, and constant and clear communication with implementing partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and host country ministries (including the Ministries of Health and Education)
  • Job holder works in context of close coordination with the national program at Ministry of Health, the National AIDS Council (CNCS) including full participation in technical meetings and planning activities (e.g. coordinating with national program to develop PEPFAR Country Operating Plan)
  • Job holder will be a member of the CDC Mozambique Prevention team and will have an opportunity to contribute and support case finding and other team activities, for instance in prevention (male circumcision, injection safety), pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, positive prevention, DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe) and service delivery for most-at-risk populations
