The REPSSI is recruiting a PSS Forum Coordinating Officer (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • Over the last decade REPSSI has convened five regional gatherings or Psychosocial Support Forums to share experience, knowledge, issues, research on more effective ways of promoting the mental and psychosocial wellbeing of children and youth. These forums created opportunities for policy makers, researchers, youth, practitioners, and media representatives to share evidence and promising practices, discuss challenges and develop new solutions, to influence policy formulation and enhance programming
  • The theme of the sixth PSS forum, which will be blended (a main physical forum in Maputo, Mozambique, (with satellite forums in Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) and virtual for partners from around the globe, in September 2021, is “Innovate. Integrate. Thrive”
Objectives of the Forum
  • The forum objectives are:
  • To create dialogue that will lead to the development of innovations and integration in programmes that promote the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, or thriving, of girls, boys and youth in Africa
  • To highlight MHPSS as an integral part of the humanitarian response in emergency situations and humanitarian aid as well as development programmes
  • To improve the quality and increase capacity of MHPSS practitioners in the development and humanitarian sectors
  • To promote learning and dissemination of knowledge in the MHPSS field
  • Facilitating research collaboration, learning communities and communities of practice across disciplines, sectors, and initiatives to promote resilience in girls, boys, youth, families and communities
  • Influencing policy formulation and implementation to promote mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of children and youth
  • To provide a platform for children and youth to share their experiences and innovations to develop solutions which facilitate thriving
Duties
  • Liaise with government ministries, departments, local, national and international organizations including foreign government agencies like embassies
  • Facilitate media engagement and promotional activities
  • Coordinate PSS Forum sub committees
  • Manage hotel and convention center bookings
  • Support registration, payments and accommodation bookings
  • Manage travel arrangements for invited guests, sponsored speakers and media
  • Manage registration of conference delegates including name badges, registration forms & data
  • Managing poster presentations, exhibitions spaces
Requisites
  • Relevant Degree in preferably Social Work, psychology, sociology, or any other social sciences
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Good judgment and ability to use initiative and make decisions in complex, challenging and sensitive situations
  • Fluent in Portuguese, English and local languages
  • Ability to use e-platforms such as, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem solving, deadline-oriented, process improvement and pays meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work within agreed timeframes
Ineligibility Criteria
  • All potential candidates that fall into any of the following categories will be excluded from participating in REPSSI projects:
  • If you have been convicted of an offence concerning your professional conduct by a court of law
  • If you have been convicted of an offence concerning child abuse
  • If you have been guilty of grave professional misconduct proven by any means that the contracting authority can justify
  • If you have not fulfilled obligations relating to the payment of social security contributions or the payment of taxes in accordance with the legal provisions of the tax law of your country
  • If you have been the subject of a court judgement for fraud, corruption, involvement in a criminal organization or any other illegal activity
  • If you have been declared to be in serious breach of contract for failure to comply with previous contractual obligations

  • The position will be based at the REPSSI Mozambique offices and will report to the Country Representative, the Advocacy and Humanitarian Affairs Manager and liaise closely with Government officers
