PSI is recruiting a Project Director, to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Description
  • PSI seeks a Project Director for an anticipated 2-year World Bank funded project in Mozambique, Nampula Province. The Project aims to improve education, health, and social protection in northern Mozambique using a multi-sectoral approach. It focuses on rebuilding damaged or destroyed institutions critical for human development and transitioning from emergency response to long-term restoration. The interventions aim to protect human capital, increase household resilience, and strengthen the relationship between the government and underserved populations. The ultimate goal is to reduce poverty, accelerate equal growth, and mitigate the risks of conflict in the region
Duties
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, budget, and resource allocation
  • Lead and manage a team of project staff, including coordinating their activities, providing guidance, and monitoring their performance
  • Oversee the management of subawards and partners, including coordinating activities, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance
  • Ensure that project activities are aligned with the overall project objectives and are executed according to the project plan
  • Develop and maintain relationships with project partners and stakeholders, including the government, community leaders, and other relevant organizations
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, identify challenges, and develop and implement solutions to address them
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, including financial and narrative reporting, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, budgets, and work plans
  • Facilitate senior-level dialogue with the national and sub-national governments, donors, and partners, to ensure that insights about the project are elevated to influence policy
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the donor and the SPS/DPS
Requisites
  • Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) MSc, MPH, MBA, MHA, MPA or equivalent
  • At least 10 years related work experience in public health, education or social protection or related field including 5 years people management experience
  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience of successful program management in MNCH and SRH, including management of complex, multi-sectoral projects
  • Excellent diplomatic skills and proven ability to work effectively with government officials, partners, donors, and stakeholders at high levels
  • Ability to manage agreements and all required programmatic and financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance of self, other individuals, and / or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning skills, with emphasis on the ability to operationalize and oversee the execution of workplans
  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and work across teams and roles. Ability to persuade and motivate people and teams
  • Experience working with government entities and staff to strengthen the health system
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Portuguese and English required
