Twigg Exploration & Mining, LDA is recruiting a Product Handling Superintendent, to be based in Balama-Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

Duties
  • The Product Handling Superintendent is responsible for contributing to the smooth commissioning and start-up of the Balama product handling facility including bagging operations and warehouse management Once operational the Product Handling Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the product handling facility is run in a safe and efficient manner according to daily, weekly and monthly production & logistics plans, ensuring that waste is minimalised and that customer expectations and specifications are met at all times The Product Handling Superintendent is also responsible for the development of the product handling team’s capability within the Balama Operations Team The Product Handling Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all QA/QC policies and procedures are in place delivering in-spec product on time, every time
  • Undertake daily work area inspections and report/rectify faults/ issues to immediately
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analysis assessments on work activities as required
  • Report all Hazards, Incidents and Near Misses in line with Company policies and procedures
  • Continually monitor the warehouse environment to ensure the safety of yourself and other workers
  • Make improvement recommendations to the Senior Team & continually increase the level of safety in the warehouse and other associated facilities
  • Manage the safety & environmental training of the Product Handling Team to ensure 100% compliance at all times
  • Lead daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning for the Product Handling Team
  • Comply with the Company’s Environmental Social Monitoring Program Management Plan and Health Safety Management Plan requirements at all times
  • Provide ongoing reporting and data analysis in relation to the condition of the product handling facility
  • Minimising delays through rapid response to uncontrolled events
  • Continually monitor the performance of the facility and readily address all issues
  • Actively and positively contribute in the commissioning of the Product Handling Facility
  • Provide assistance to The Engineering teams & Product Handling Facility crews for the optimisation of the facility and work closely with the operational crews to optimise handling and throughput
  • Ensure participation in process shift handover activities as required
  • Ensure contribution to pre-start and toolbox sessions as required
  • Contribute to the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning for Product Handling Operations
  • Provide warehouse and logistical advice and support to the Senior Team as required
  • Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly product & logistics planning process
  • Work with the Processing Team to ensure compliance to the production plan
  • Liaise with the Integrated Planning Team to ensure the production plan is in-line with the mine plan and sales and marketing plan
  • Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly handling & logistics reporting to plan
  • Monitor the execution of the plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion
  • Monitor production and movement progress and ensure that final product movement meets quality standards and customer specifications as per the production plan
  • Analyse delays and interruptions and accordingly adjust the schedule to meet deadlines
  • Organise & manage metallurgical process and procedural audits and test strategies to ensure optimum operating conditions and continuous improvement at all times
  • Manage the development of strategies for resolving product handling bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Lead optimisation projects throughout the Product Handling Facility
  • Make improvement recommendations to continually increase the level of handling efficiency of the facility and other associated processes
  • Manage the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning for Improvement & Innovation
  • Provide technical advice and support to the Senior Team as required
  • Coach and mentor all team members to build capability across our Mozambique workforce
  • Ensure own and teams’ behaviour is aligned with Company Values at all times
  • Liaise with logistics personnel to ensure appropriate safe operations and professionalism
  • Manage direct employees work performance as per the Syrah Resources Work Performance System
  • Manage the training and professional development of the Product Handling Team to ensure 100% compliance at all times
  • Manage the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning for the Product Handling Team
  • Assist the Product Handling technical workforce in their learning, training and development
  • Manage and develop quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Manage the implementation of quality assurance standards
  • Manage all customer complaints and non-conformance issues providing prompt reports as to the investigated outcome
  • Develop and manage an internal audit program for quality assurance
  • Develop and manage cost saving initiatives that ensure quality assurance for the Product Handling and Logistics Operations
  • Manage daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning as required
  • Manage the monthly reporting of all KPI’s for the Warehouse and Logistics area
  • Manage all product handling and logistics consumables within designated budget
Requisites
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics and/or Warehouse Management or equivalent
  • 5 + years’ experience in a similar role preferably with a logistics management focus
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Pro-activeness and proven capacity to think conceptually and make assertive decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with team members
  • Sound computer proficiency with intermediate MS Office skills & an advanced Excel and Database skill level
  • Significant knowledge of warehouse and stock control systems
  • Experience in a fast paced logistical environment highly desired
  • Contractor management experience highly desirable
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
