Twigg Exploration & Mining, LDA is recruiting a Process Superintendent, to be based in Cabo Delgado-Balama, Mozambique.

Duties
  • The Processing Superintendent is responsible for contributing to the smooth commissioning and start-up of the Balama processing facility Once operational the Processing Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the process plant is run in a safe and efficient manner according to daily, weekly and monthly production plans, ensuring utilisation and throughput rates are achieved or exceeded at all times, that waste is minimized and that customer expectations and specifications are met at all times The Processing Superintendent is also responsible for the development of the process operational team’s capability within the Balama Operations Team The Processing Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all QA/QC policies and procedures are adhered to delivering in-spec product on time
  • Undertake daily work area inspections and report/rectify faults/ issues to immediately
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analysis assessments on work activities as required
  • Report all Hazards, Incidents and Near Misses in line with Company policies and procedures
  • Continually monitor the plant environment to ensure the safety of yourself and other workers
  • Make improvement recommendations to the Senior Team & continually increase the level of safety in the plant and other associated facilities
  • Manage the safety & environmental training of the Process Team to ensure 100% compliance at all times
  • Provide ongoing reporting and data analysis in relation to the performance of the processing facility
  • Minimizing delays through rapid response to uncontrolled events
  • Continually monitor the performance of the plant and readily address all issues
  • Actively and positively contribute in the commissioning of the Process Plant
  • Provide assistance and guidance to The Process Engineering team & Process
  • Plant operational crews for the optimization of the circuit and work closely with the operational crews to optimize production
  • Ensure full team participation in shift handover activities
  • Ensure team contribution to pre-start and toolbox sessions
  • Contribute to the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and planning for Process Operations
  • Provide operational advice and support to the Senior Team as required
  • Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly production planning process
  • Work with the Process Engineering Team to ensure compliance to the production plan
  • Liaise with the Integrated Planning Team to ensure the production plan is in-line with the mine plan and sales and marketing plan
  • Monitor the execution of the production plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion
  • Monitor production progress and ensure that final product meets quality standards and customer specifications as per the production plan
  • Organise & manage metallurgical surveys and test-work to ensure optimum operating conditions and continuous improvement at all times
  • Manage the development of strategies for resolving process bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Lead optimisation projects throughout the Process Plant
  • Make improvement recommendations to the Processing Team to continually increase the level of processing efficiency of the plant and other associated facilities
  • Provide technical advice and support to the Senior Engineer as required
  • Manage operational consumables, stocks and budgets while supporting the Maintenance and Engineering teams
  • Contribute and support the ongoing maintenance and development of the Process
  • Plant production metallurgical accounting and reconciliation systems
  • Contribute to the Process Plant Physical Accounting and Reconciliation processes
  • Provide operational advice and support to the Processing Teams as required
  • Coach and mentor all team members to build capability across our Mozambique workforce
  • Ensure own and teams’ behaviour is aligned with Company Values at all times
  • Liaise with maintenance personnel to ensure appropriate safe operations and professionalism
  • Manage direct employees work performance as per the Syrah Resources Work Performance System
  • Manage the training and professional development of the Processing Team to ensure 100% compliance at all times
  • Assist the Process Plant technical workforce in their learning, training and development
  • Manage daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly production reporting and planning as required
  • Manage the monthly reporting of all KPI’s for the plant operation, utilisation and performance
  • Manage all operational and related processing costs within designated budget
Requisites
  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy and/or Process Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role preferably with a primary flotation focus
  • Plant start-up and commissioning experience highly desirable
  • Graphite processing experience highly desirable
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Pro-activeness and proven capacity to think conceptually and make assertive decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with team members
  • Sound computer proficiency with intermediate MS Office skills & an advanced Excel and Database skill level
  • Significant knowledge of fixed plant control systems
  • Contractor management experience highly desirable
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
