Adra Mozambique is recruiting a Notetaker, to be based in Nhamatanda, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian organization with a mission to work with people in poverty and suffering to create just and positive change. We belong to ADRA's worldwide network of 120 support and implementation offices. ADRA Mozambique is registered locally, currently operating in six provinces and has four main sectors: Sustainable Livelihoods, Emergency Response, Education and Health/Nutrition/WASH. ADRA is looking for a notetaker for a learning evaluation workshop
  • The notetaker is fluent in English, Portuguese and also in local languages such as Ci-Ndau and Ci-Sena. The notes will be taken during the learning evaluation workshop to be held in Nhamatanda district in Sofala province, Mozambique. The workshop will be carried out during the weeks of 11 and 22 of December, 2023. The first two sessions will be held in the village of Nhamatanda. Afterwards, the Learning Evaluation Workshop team will continue conducting the sessions in the following communities: Lamego, Chirassicua, Bebedo, Macorococho and Nhampoca, within Nhamatanda. The notetaker is expected to be willing to travel. The notetaker will only document the conversation, not to facilitate the workshops
  • ADRA Mozambique with its partners, ADRA Austria and Livaningo, have been implementing a three year livelihood project designated Kukwiza in Nhamatanda, which has been funded by the Austria Development Agency (ADA). The project objectives are to contribute to improved food security & nutrition of vulnerable households in Nhamatanda District as well as to enhance equitable and sustainable food production and income security for vulnerable smallholder farmer through increased gender-equitable and inclusive agricultural livelihoods and income generation activities in Nhamatanda
  • As the project comes to an end, the implementation team in compliance with donor’s requirement has agreed to conduct a final evaluation based on learning workshop approach so that selected participants such as the beneficiaries, Government institutions as well as private sector may reflect on the achievement of the expected outcomes whether they have been reached or not and think on ways forward based on the lessons learnt. This evaluation exercise will be conducted by the project implementation team focusing on the participatory methodology
Objective of the task
  • The aim is to hire a highly competent notetaker who will be collecting and writing all notes from the learning workshop discussions as the field team facilitates all community events. It is expected that the notetaker is fluent not only in English and Portuguese but also in local languages such as Ci-Ndau and Ci-Sena. The notes are expected to include, but not be limited to:
  • Writing the discussions from the learning workshops as detailed as possible
  • Transfer the handwriting into Word-Format, both local language and English
  • Share, on daily basis, with the project implementation team the notes
  • Ensure data quality of the notes are following the expected high standard quality
  • The notes should include, date, number of participants disaggregated by sex and ages
Timeline and logistic expenses
  • The learning workshop events will be carried out in the province of Sofala, in the district of Nhamatanda in its village and the following localities: Lamego, Chirassicua, Bebedo, Macorococho and Nhampoca, within Nhamatanda. The notetaker is expected to include all logistic expenses in the consultancy service offer, except the transport within the field
Deliverables
  • The notetaker will be responsible for leading the writing of the workshops as well as stories given by participants. A daily summary report on key findings from the discussions to be submitted to the evaluation team leader
  • The following documents must be submitted:
  • Daily summary of the discussions
  • Digitalized notes in local and English language
  • Original handwritten notes from the discussions
  • A Final notes report summarizing the content of the different groups of participants (government, farmer groups, DRM group ... covering all learning workshop

  • General Data Protection Regulation
  • All documents and data collected is property of ADRA Mozambique and must be treated confidentially and, in the case of personal data, in accordance with the provisions of data protection law (in particular the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union and the Federal Data Protection Act) and must be kept internally and exclusively for the evaluation. Within a maximum of one year after completion of an evaluation, the contractor must destroy electronic data and documents permanently and in accordance with data protection law.
  • In addition, ADRA requires that the data sets compiled or used in the process be sent no later than 2 weeks after the workshop sessions to ADRA. The data must be disaggregated by gender, age and other relevant diversity, in accordance with this ToR and the project's draft logical framework
Payment schedule
  • Payments will be based on delivery. Any deliverable that does not meet the required specifications will have to be reworked and resubmitted at no additional cost to ADRA. The proposed payment schedule for this assignment is a 40% payment at the start of the assignment, after submission of the initial report and 60% payment after submission of the final notes report with all indicate satisfactory deliverables shared and agreed
Requisites
  • We expect potential candidates to be individuals
  • Bachelor level in Rural Development, Agriculture, Economics, Social Sciences or related discipline; master is an advantage
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional and technical experience in research in Mozambique, with an adequate knowledge of the landscape of the Central region
  • Track record of conducting interviews and facilitating focus groups
  • Experience or familiarity with environmentally friendly projects
  • Language skills: Portuguese and English essential. Speaking local languages will be an advantage
  • The notetaker must adhere to the humanitarian principles, ADRA's Protection Policy and ADRA's ethical values
  • A cover letter addressing the above selection criteria
  • CV of the candidate, highlighting experience relevant to this learning workshop, with contact details of at least two references from recent employers or clients
  • Financial Proposal: Cost estimates for the services provided including consultancy fees and logistics for carrying out the fieldwork

Selection criteria
  • In addition to the quality of the content of the offer, the total price and scope of the services offered, previous experience of the services offered, references and target audience orientation are also taken into account. The following evaluation basis is available for this:
  • Presentation of experience (including references) in implementing comparable services (20%)
  • Qualifications (40%)
  • Financial proposal (40%)
