US Embassy is recruiting a IT Assistant, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Description
  • This position reports directly to the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) with technical guidance provided by the International Technical Support group in Washington, DC. The ITA is the primary contact for first-tier technical support, staff training, online content management, and policy compliance at Peace Corps Mozambique. Daily tasks will be managed by the IT Specialist. The position will be based in Maputo, Mozambique with approximately 30% travel to regional offices based in Namaacha, Chimoio and Nampula
Duties
  • Conducts formal and informal IT training to staff with varying degrees of technical proficiency. Training will be conducted on software applications, Windows, appropriate use of IT in the workplace, and other PC applications, such as VIDA, Intranet, SFTP, Skype 4 Business, and SharePoint
  • Provide orientation for new staff
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of training materials that includes handouts, videos and manuals
  • Provide training to Peace Corps Trainees during Pre-Service Training
    Customer Technical Suppor
  • Provide first-tier computer, networt, and software application support for all staff. Escalate unresolved problems to the IT Specialist
  • Assist the ITS in the maintenance of the telephone system and video-conferencing equipment, including the transportation of the equipment in other offices
  • Responsible for replacing the printers and copy machine toners when needed
    Network Management
  • Monitoring users internet access to comply with agency security standards, through ISA Firewall
  • Monitoring compliance in terms of applications use, and be point of contact to new requirements between Post and OCIO
  • Monitoring and guide the use of external storage resources on the network (a continuation of the training required) to reduce the risk of security breaches
  • Provide Weekly IT Security reminders and notification to staff
    Online Content Management
  • Support the creation, development, and management of content for Peace Corps Mozambique’s web presence (requires working with content management software)
  • Oversee and manage the Facebook and Twitter accounts and other social networking presence of Peace Corps Mozambique
  • Review PCV blogs to ensure compliance with PC standard policies
    Administrative
  • Responsible for complying with all administrative tasks related to IT assigned by the ITS
  • Maintain and organize IT relevant documentation (Forms and Incident reports)
  • Maintain and manage Office shared files in accordance to Post Record Management
  • Assist with uploading Volunteer photos and data into VIDA
  • Create Volunteer ID cards as directed by ITS
  • Clerical work for the IT department
  • Act as IT Specialist backup during IT Specialist absence
Requisites
  • Secondary School diploma
  • Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience with IT
  • A+ Certification
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English. (Minimum level 3 in English)
  • Demonstrated training delivery and end-user support skills
  • Experience in network management and Active Directory
  • Experience in website development and social media
  • Willingness/availability to travel throughout Mozambique
  • Mozambican residency and work permit
  • Ability to successfully pass a security clearance through the U.S. Embassy
