Description
  • The U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Health Communications Specialist
Duties
  • The Health Communications Specialist will be part of the CDC-Communications team and will report to the Associate Director for Communications in the Office of the Director
  • The incumbent will be responsible for the creation and delivery of information to both internal and external audiences by advising and assisting with written and oral communications, independently identifying plans, and implementing and evaluating communications programs
  • The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing both online and traditional media strategies to further increase awareness of PEPFAR and CDC-Mozambique’s work, and to increase visibility to important CDC programs, health policies, and published research
  • The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with CDC’s implementing partners to execute events and media opportunities and support the communication of partners to ensure they follow CDC branding and communications guidelines
  • The Health Communications Specialist is responsible for increasing media opportunities and visibility of CDC’s success stories
  • The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing CDC’s implementing partners’ communications programs to ensure proper protocols are being followed and also provides public health communications training and technical support to help build the communication capacity of partners in increasing the visibility of their work through traditional and social media
  • The incumbent will design, implement and evaluate communications activities to publicize CDC-Mozambique’s programs, activities, goals, mission, and the professional standing to establish and maintain contacts in the media, governmental and non-governmental, academic, and commercial sectors
  • Advises CDC-Mozambique staff and relevant colleagues on the needs and plans for written documentation, executes and evaluates the exchange of informational programs for journalists and others in the media
