Aldelia is recruiting a Senior Banking Manager (Head Public Sector and IDG Banking), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
  • To be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and monitoring/controlling of national sales strategies and financial targets for the Public Sector Banking (PSB) segment
  • The PSB portfolio comprises:
  • National government
  • Regional councils
  • Local authorities
  • State-owned enterprises (parastatals)
  • Foreign missions
  • Educational institutions (public and private)
  • Selected non-governmental organizations
  • To service and support existing public sector customers and generate new business
  • External relationship management:
  • Ensures effective regular contact with existing and potential customers with an aim to developing a pipeline of customers within PSB
  • Ensures that existing clients are retained
  • Internal relationship management:
  • Ensures engagement at all strategic and operational levels within PSB
  • Ensures that internal stakeholders (e.g., Fleet, VAF, Business Online, Product, Business Lending, Credit, etc.) understand the Public Sector segment strategy by ensuring regular communication with the stakeholders
  • Ensures the alignment of internal stakeholder’s activities and strategies with Public Sector activities and strategies
  • Business growth:
  • Proactively identifies and sells additional value-added solutions to the existing clients
  • Identifies sales opportunities within the segment for other areas of the Bank (e.g., Personal Markets and Banking)
  • Supports the country in harnessing intellectual capital and operational systems to achieve the successful delivery of strategic business objectives
  • People management:
  • Responsible for inspiring, motivating, leading and managing the team
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, and retention of relevant skills in order to meet the business needs
  • Ensures the effective selection of staff by matching the skills and competencies to the requirements of the job
  • Ensures skills assessments and competency-based training takes place as and when required
  • Builds organizational capabilities through evaluating likely future requirements and ensuring that individuals are provided with the best possible development opportunities in line with these
  • Creates an environment in which learning and development are emphasized and valued
  • Takes personal responsibility for coaching and mentoring others
  • Effectively delegate authority and responsibility, in line with business objectives, to ensure the empowerment, motivation, and effectiveness of all direct and indirect reports
  • Promotes a culture where the values of the Bank are seen to be ‘alive’
  • Ensures the implementation of the leadership promise and employee engagement programme
  • Encourages team members to express their views, resolves issues raised by the team, escalates issues if required, and provides feedback to teams on an ongoing basis
  • Develops and maintains an open communication channel with direct reports and supports staff to foster greater co-operation and teamwork
  • Monitors and manages the performance and development of staff within the area. This includes regular one-on-one feedback sessions, conducting mid-year and final performance appraisals, as well as the moderation and relative distribution of all appraisals for the team
  • Drives the Talent Review Sessions and succession planning, in conjunction with Human Resources
  • Fosters the transformation of the workplace and supports business in the achievement of the undertakings in the transformation scorecard
  • Ensures staff are appropriately and consistently rewarded and recognized for their achievements and outputs
  • Ensures that disciplinary action and grievances are addressed and aligned to the Bank policies and procedures
Requisites
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration
  • Knowledge of National Government and Local Government operations and policies
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of demographic, economic, or market research and community planning
  • Knowledge of research and statistical analysis methods
  • Ability to identify, analyze and recommend solutions for financial, operational, managerial and marketing needs of corporate businesses
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with corporate business clients, Government officials, community leaders and co-workers
  • Ability to synthesize and use complex financial and technical information on business regulation and operation
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports on business strategies and related work
  • Ability to lead others in the work of Business Banking
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete special projects
  • Extensive experience in credit/lending environment
  • 7 years’ banking experience with specific focus on SME, Public Sector and Commercial Banking preferably in a management position and people management experience
  • Proven track record of communicating with senior government officials, business leaders and diversity of stakeholders
  • Experience in product pricing
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting
  • Development and management of tactical sales plans
  • Financial management experience
