Description
  • Heading is searching a Head of Heavy Equipment (m/f) for a cliente to provide repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles and related systems. Incumbents manage and administer the acquisition, maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles for the City
  • Work may include analyzing fleet operations, improving processes and developing policies and procedures; managing and approving vehicle and equipment replacement purchases; facilitating relationships between departments, customers and with vendors; performing procurement and approving purchases. Incumbents supervise professional and support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures
Duties
  • This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department. Supervises staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures
  • Manages and administers the acquisition, maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles for the Company
  • Develops and oversees the management and implementation of fleet maintenance goals, strategies, and policy; ensures adherence with quality standards and operational policies and procedures
  • Manages and approves equipment and vehicle replacement purchases; reviews and approves purchase of repair parts and outsourced maintenance and repair services of vehicles and equipment
  • Analyzes fleet maintenance operations and trends
  • Prepares and reviews maintenance reports and related expenditures; reviews technical service updates; researches industry best practices
  • Oversees the implementation of improved processes and streamlined operational and technical activities
  • Collaborates with internal departments, customers and service providers; facilitates working relationships; establishes priorities; and addresses customer concerns
  • Manages and monitors assigned budget and related expenditures; identifies budget concerns and prepares recommendations related to vehicle and equipment purchases and operating expenses
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Requisites
  • The candidate must be able to: Supervising and evaluating staff performance
  • Training and coaching staff
  • Coordinating deadlines, prioritizing work demands and assigning/monitoring work performed
  • Managing service quality and the adherence with standards, goals and policies
  • Managing assigned operating budget and related expenditures
  • Providing consultation and serving as a program liaison and subject matter expert
  • Monitoring compliance with applicable plans, standards, regulations and policies
  • Monitoring, evaluating and assessing operations and managing the implementation of program/process improvements
  • Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices
  • Researching technical issues and articulating recommendations
  • Exercising political acumen, tact and diplomacy
  • Facilitating group discussions and building consensus using persuasive reasoning
  • Authoring and preparing original reports, documents and presentations
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment)
  • Providing customer service
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
