Environment Site Officer (m/f)

Aldelia is recruiting an Environment Site Officer (m/f), to be based in Inhambane, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Single in-country point of accountability for enabling and assuring that all Well Delivery Well site activities in Mozambique are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the One Company’s SHE Excellence Approach, industry good practice, and the law
  • The purpose of this and all Company’s Well Delivery roles is to Safely Deliver Quality wells and to personally contribute to Mozambique skills transfer
  • Steward a healthy environmental stewardship culture
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and support to ensure good environmental performance and compliance with requirements - this includes the interpretation of regulations, practices and procedures
  • Implement environmental management strategies and plans to ensure that projects are executed as per the approved Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s)
  • Ensure compliance with project related Environmental Management Plans (EMP’s) and EIA approval conditions
  • Perform day to day task necessary to monitor Service Providers performance with regards to EMP requirements including: Daily walkabouts, Tool Box Talks, Project/Site Meetings, Environmental Awareness Sessions
  • Identify Environmental risks and issues and propose solutions to ensure environmental protection
  • Develop and review project specific documentation including work instructions and procedures aimed at ensuring EMP compliance
  • Develop and present environmental awareness material
  • Liaise with the project Community Liaison Officer to ensure that community environmental concerns are addressed
  • Oversee the instigation of environmental incidents and the definition of preventive and corrective measures
  • Compile weekly, monthly and six-monthly reports of environmental performance and compliance with EMP requirements
  • Manage the monitoring activities and address identified trends (air, water, soil)
  • Ensure that solid waste and effluent management meet the requirements of the EMP
  • Undertake regular audits and inspections and ensure that action plans are in place to address findings/trends
  • Oversee site closure and rehabilitation activities and compile relevant environmental close-out reports
Requisites
  • Honors Degree in Environmental Management or related fields (including Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Biology, Ecology or Physical Sciences)
  • 2 years’ experience in the environmental field
  • Practical environmental experience relating to civil works and/or hydrocarbon exploration will be a strong advantage
  • Stakeholder engagement/liaison with communities
