Driver/Administrative Assistant (m/f)


Chemonics is recruiting a Driver/Administrative Assistant (m/f), to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
  • Project: Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) Mozambique
  • The overall goal of GHSC-PSM is to procure and provide health commodities for all USAID health programs, including but not limited to, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Family Planning, and Maternal & Child Health, as well as provide systems strengthening technical assistance to improve supply chain management and commodity security in Mozambique
  • The Office and Transportation Assistant will ensure the most effective logistics and transportation for the Project in compliance with USAID policies and regulations
  • Driver/Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Logistics Advisor. This is a long-term position for the life of the contract based in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique
Vehicle Driving and Maintenance
  • Drive assigned project vehicle daily, including on scheduled project-related trips
  • Maintain cleanliness of car
  • Check assigned vehicle weekly to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive, and check the project vehicle’s oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires, lights, and signals
  • Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisor's approval
  • Fulfill project-reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle routing (logbook), condition, etc.
  • Contribute to passenger safety by obeying traffic laws, driving carefully, and requesting that each person in the vehicle wears a seatbelt
Logistics and Administration
  • Assist with procurements, collecting offers, contacting vendors making bank deposits
  • Assist with logistics in regards to training events including identifying and setting up the venue, assisting with production of training materials, and transporting necessary equipment and people to the venue
  • Assist with daily project operations, as needed, in regards to office maintenance and repairs and provision of office supplies
  • Ensure that the office is organized to run efficiently and that office equipment and supplies are ordered on time and properly maintained
  • Perform other tasks as directed by Logistics Advisor
  • Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all office rules and procedures as set forth in the field office policy manual
  • Basic skills on computer and Microsoft Office
  • Support achievement of the overall project goals as required to ensure project performance
  • At least 2 years of experience driving for USAID projects, or other international organizations
  • Valid driver’s license required (Preference for Professional Driving License)
  • Knowledge of roads in relevant area of Mozambique required (for Cabo Delgado)
  • Fluency in Portuguese and functional English is required
