Project Information
  • BETTER project is a seven-year, Global Affairs Canada and CODE co-funded project to support pre-service teacher training in Mozambique. Implemented by CODE and its Mozambican partner Associação Progresso beginning in July 2015, the ultimate goal of BETTER is to improve the quality of education for primary students by improving the quality of teacher education at four Teacher Training Institutes (IFPs) in Cabo Delgado, Tete, Niassa and Maputo provinces
Objective
  • The BETTER project is managed based on a Result-Based Management approach (RBM), with specific outputs and outcomes and respective result indicators.  The objective of this consultancy is to assist CODE and Associação Progresso to review data collection tools, procedures for consistent collection of data on key result indicators, and support the collection, analysis, and report of data from January to June 2020. The consultant is expected to support and strengthen the BETTER monitoring and evaluation team and support data collection of our Project
Duties
  • For the first half of 2020, the BETTER project has identified the need for additional support in Monitoring and Evaluation. Therefore, the project is looking for a suitable candidate to support the project in the following activities: Support in revision of data collection tools to support PMF requirements
  • Support the develop a system for Project to track annual data on each indicator
  • Support the perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ensure timeliness and quality of M&E activities
  • Contribute to the design and implementation/ oversight of surveys and special studies
  • Support in the gathering and analysis and data to support in specific sections of written reports
Requisites
  • Masters degree in related field required including M&E, development studies, education, etc.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience related to M&E
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Solid understanding about Result-Based Management
  • Solid understanding about education and gender equality in the education context
  • Ability to serve as an effective member on a variety of M&E teams
  • Very strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent Portuguese and good English abilities preferred
Notes
  • Level of Effort for the Consultant:The consultant is expected to be flexible and support in early January 2019 for 8 days and then for the next 3-5 months the level of effort will be on an average of 1 day a week totaling a maximum 12- 20 days
  • The Contract will be for a total of 20 days with an additional 8 days, if required
