Consultant Food Technologist/Engineer (m/f)

GAIN is recruiting a Consultant Food Technologist/Engineer (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Conduct trainings in FSQ and Food fortification for food producing companies (with focus on fortified foods)
  • Support salt producers in assuring quality and safe production and processing of salt
  • Support implementation of food safety and quality activities
  • Quality assuring the technical content of project activities, including quality checking technical content of consultancy deliverables
  • Liaise with LSFF team to give adequate support to all consultants contracted by GAIN for all services, including ensuring all needed resources are availed on time
  • Other tasks related to the implementation of the LSFF portfolio as required by the GAIN Mozambique LSFF manager
  • Support other GAIN programs as required, Key Organizational Relationships: GAIN Mozambique country team, UNICEF nutrition team, National Committee for Food Fortification in Mozambique (CONFAM), INNOQ (National Institute for Standardization and Quality), National Laboratory for hygiene, water and food (LNHAA), National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE), Mozambican Food Production Industry, Other Organizational Relationships, Ministry of Health, Development partners (WFP)
Requisites
  • Knowledge on how to operationalize risk-based process control and food safety management systems (such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Knowledge on developing and conducting trainings on food safety and quality
  • Knowledge on regulatory monitoring and food inspection
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Systematic thinking with demonstrated good sense of judgment, problem solving and creativity
  • Computer literacy with good Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point skills
  • At least 1/2 years of experience in working with Food Safety, including development of SOPs and auditing
  • Proven experience in Food Quality Assurance and Management
  • Proven experience in working with local food producers in Mozambique an advantage
  • Proven experience in working with food industry in Mozambique an advantage
  • Proven experience in project management preferred
  • Proven experience in working with government officials in Mozambique an advantage
  • Proven experience in coordination and consensus building within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven experience in working under pressure and to deliver under short deadlines
  • Graduation degree in food technology, Food science or related area
  • Fluent written and verbal Portuguese
  • Fluent written and verbal English
  • Right to work in Mozambique
