Community Engagement Specialist

ICMA provides technical assistance to local governments in emerging democracies, helping them to develop professional practices and ethical, transparent governments. ICMA performs a wide range of grant and contract funded work both in the U.S. and globally, supported by federal government agencies, foundations, and corporations.

ICMA is expressing interest in a Community Engagement Specialist, for a USAID funded program in Mozambique. The Coastal City Adaptation Program (CCAP), is a five-year program is designed to increase urban coastal resiliency to climate change by incorporating climate change into urban planning processes and undertaking adaptive measures in response to capacity building activities, performance-based incentives and public advocacy in targeted municipalities.

Duties
  • Leading community climate change awareness and resilience efforts for the project
  • Work with vulnerable communities to envision and implement solutions to adopting climate change resilience measures
Requisites
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 additional years of community mobilization engagement experience
  • At least 5 years community mobilization/engagement or similar experience
  • Fluency in Portuguese required and English preferred
