Civil Society Engagement Coordinator

CONTACT is recruiting a Civil Society Engagement Coordinator, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Reporting to the Senior Territorial Development Manager and the Social Performance Director, the main activities of this role include: developing, maintaining and strengthening strategic relationships with civil society organizations (CSOs), including CBOs, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinating CSO engagement in the implementation of the Project Social Performance Strategy, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations; providing technical support and capacity-building assistance to CSOs and NGOs, strengthening capabilities in governance, advocacy and social accountability within the extractive industry context
  • Facilitating inclusive, transparent and ethical stakeholder engagement processes involving CSOs, local communities and government entities; supporting the rollout and implementation of Project Social Management Plans, ensuring compliance with Mozambican legislation and international standards (IFC and Equator Principles); maintaining and regularly updating a comprehensive CSO mapping and profiling database, identifying key actors, areas of influence, thematic focus and engagement potential
  • Monitoring societal risks and contributing to the development and execution of mitigation strategies in coordination with relevant internal teams; preparing regular reports on CSO engagement activities, highlighting trends, concerns and opportunities for improved collaboration; representing the company in external meetings, forums and consultations with CSOs, promoting constructive dialogue and collaboration
  • Ensuring that all CSO engagement activities are fully documented, traceable, updated and stored in the company’s information management systems; working closely with the Human Rights and VPSHR teams to support the implementation of relevant project-level human rights initiatives at CSO level
  • Maintaining continuous situational awareness of the CSO landscape, including regulatory developments, emerging issues and new partnership opportunities that may affect project operations
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Political Science or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in community development, CSO engagement, stakeholder management or social performance within extractive or development sectors, including experience in social impact assessment and CSO management
  • Solid knowledge of international performance standards (IFC, World Bank, AfDB) and the Mozambican CSO regulatory framework
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills in English and Portuguese
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, multicultural and challenging environments
