Business Management Graduate Programme

BP Moçambique

Downstream Challenge is BP’s early career graduate development programme, and the aim of the programme is to build fully competent independent professionals within a discipline to support business delivery across the Southern Africa business. It is a competency-based programme which provides graduates with practical experience and formal learning while building discipline foundations.

In South Africa and Mozambique, the programme typically runs over 24 months and consists of rotations depending on the business requirements. The actual time could be longer or shorter depending on individual circumstances and experience.

We believe Downstream Challenge offers you a head start in the company with a fantastic set of opportunities such as structured training and other opportunities to develop competencies within your chosen discipline, as well as proactive support and coaching for your development from your Line Manager and chosen Mentor.

Duties

Key accountabilities will be determined when you join the programme, however below you will find a list of generic activities and developmental milestones:

  • To gain understanding of BP Fuels Value Chain (FVC) business operations and associated supporting functions
  • To gain understanding of the BP Southern Africa business, specifically the business strategy and activities, and indicate how graduates add value to this
  • To demonstrate basic up-to-date understanding of BP product knowledge and the critical business deliverables
  • To learn and develop basic managerial skills and competencies required for future leadership
  • To learn and develop basic technical skills and competencies to perform within the functional area
  • To apply theory and technical skills to contribute to solving practical business challenges
  • To perform at the level required in the graduate development programme and achieve the developmental outcomes or milestones.
  • To deliver specific performance unit or functional unit tasks and activities as delegated by the hosting Line Manager
Requisites
  • Minimum BCom Honours in Marketing or Business Management
  • Less than 12 month of post qualification working experience
  • Mozambiquen Citizen or legally authorised to work in Mozambique
  • 65% average
  • English proficiency is a must
