PSI is recruiting a Business Development Manager (m/f), to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Business Development Manager will join the team and implement activities under the Small Towns Sanitation (a 4-year WASH Program, funded by USAID). The project’s objectives are to strengthen local market capacity to provide toilet products and emptying services for households; to improve the capacity of governments to manage public sanitation services; and to improve sanitation and hygiene behaviors. The incumbent will plan, develop, and oversee business development activities for sanitation businesses in small towns in Zambezia, Nampula, and Cabo Delgado. He/she will collaborate with the Social Behavior Change Specialist to increase sustained consumer demand for services and the Product and Service Delivery Specialist to develop and test new product and service delivery models to increase access to sanitation while building viable businesses
Duties
  • Provide leadership for a team of Business Development Advisors who provide direct support to private sector actors
  • Evaluate business performance and identify areas of need and opportunity
  • Develop strategies and tools for helping business offer viable, sustainable service offerings that contribute to a robust sanitation market
  • Strengthen business performance through training, coaching, and supervision
  • Facilitate coordination and efficiencies between supply chain actors to ensure a reliable supply of appropriate goods and services
  • Develop and support businesses to implement strengthened customer acquisition strategies, including marketing and sales
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure an effective intersection of product offering, sales and marketing approaches, and an efficient delivery system
  • Support institutionalizing mentoring and coaching services in the local consulting sector, vocational colleges, or government entities
  • Contribute to shaping monitoring and evaluation for sustainability and measuring progress towards results, learning, documentation, and knowledge management
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s Degree in sales, marketing, business administration, or related field
  • At least 7-10 years of experience, with seven years in a position with similar responsibilities
  • Extensive experience assessing small businesses and developing and executing plans, strategies, and tools to strengthen their viability
  • Experience providing coaching and skills building to small businesses and entrepreneurs
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing highly desirable
  • Experience with urban sanitation and improving fecal sludge management services delivery highly desirable
  • Experience managing staff and coordinating activities
  • Excellent diplomatic, strong oral/written skills and presentation abilities
  • Extensive computer skills, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, and be highly motivated and organized
  • Mozambican nationality
