The HIV/AIDS Program of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine is recruiting a board-certified physician with expertise in comprehensive HIV care and primary care for children and adults.
The incumbent will serve as Medical Director at the St. Luke Health Center and Clinical Teaching Site at the Catholic University of Mozambique (Universidade Católica de Moçambique) in Beira, Sofala Province, Mozambique.
Duties
- Serve as the full-time Medical Director of a medical school teaching health center in Beira, Mozambique
- Train and mentor Mozambican medical students and doctors at the Catholic University of Mozambique in the delivery of HIV care and general primary care
- Mentor University of Pittsburgh global health residents and infectious disease fellows
- Serve as the in-country presence for the University of Pittsburgh
- Identify and promote linkages with other NGOs and US Government-funded agencies in Mozambique
- Foster the development of faculty at Catholic University of Mozambique
- The successful candidate will participate in the management of the Health Center, teach in the pre-clinical and clinical phases of the medical school, and supervise medical personnel at the Health Center
- In addition, the incumbent will balance and prioritize multiple projects, meet reporting deadlines, communicate results, and interact effectively with Division of Infectious Disease faculty and staff
Requisites
- Candidates should have some skills in Portuguese or a local Mozambican language
- Strong commitment to global health
- Experience working in resource-limited settings
- Strong clinical and teaching skills are preferred
