PSI is recruiting an Accounting Coordinator, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Accounting Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Finance Director to ensure systems and processes are developed to ensure timely financial reporting and compliance with donor and PSI policies. He/she will be responsible for maintaining records, prepare financial reports and supporting documentation; and ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with PSI and donor regulations
Duties
  • Oversees the month-end financial closure process and coordinates the timely submission of monthly financial reports to Washington DC
  • Oversees monthly analysis of the PSI/Mozambique trial balance and other financial reports. Such reports include but are not limited to aging reports, support schedules, and efficiency reports
  • Oversees timely and accurate financial year-end closure and submission of year-end reports
  • Oversees the preparation of various ad hoc financial requests from Washington DC and internal stakeholders
  • Participates in the recruitment, training, and development of a competent pool of finance staff that can effectively discharge the mandate of the finance function, in close collaboration with the Finance Director and Human Resources department
  • Checks the PSI/Mozambique general ledger, trial balance and other financial reports for accuracy, prior to submission to Washington DC and other stakeholders
  • Ensure provincial offices accounting is reviewed on a weekly basis
  • Advises Finance Director of any need for changes in systems and processes
  • Checks for the accurate inclusion of all assets such as cash, inventories, accounts receivable and fixed assets on the balance sheet
  • Oversees the execution and timely posting of all financial transactions
  • Supports finance users and oversees the performance of QBE as business process leader
  • Facilitates audit work and prepares financial components of audits, in close collaboration with the Finance Director
  • Actively engage with internal and external audit teams and ensure findings related to financial management are closed within the prescribed deadlines and provide feedback to the Finance Director
  • Promotes efficient and innovative solutions to cash management based on current trends. Such solutions include electronic banking and mobile banking. Design and implement internal controls adapted to such innovative solutions
  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are performed in accordance with the Bank Reconciliation Procedure for all bank accounts and approved bank reconciliation forms are submitted to Washington DC Finance in a timely manner
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At least five years of increasingly responsible, related experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, reconciliation, journal entry, and other such financial transactions
  • Exceptional ability to execute multiple projects and assignments timely and with high attention to detail
  • Strong ability to follow-through project implementation and finish several on-going projects on time
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting systems. Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise preferred
  • Proficiency in English preferred
