
Simião António Mahumana is a natural resources and agricultural value chain expert by training and experience with extension programs of the University of Pretoria (Post-Graduate School of Agriculture and Rural Development), management of agricultural commodity associations, and personal action as agricultural entrepreneur in production and marketing of agricultural commodities in large (300 ha), medium (Gaza 10 ha) and small (Maputo 5 ha) enterprises. He is also a formally and, on the job, trained educator, social welfare, rural development, development finance, organizational capacity building, and emergency planning and response expert. Simião has worked as Lecturer (Pedagogic University of Maputo’s Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Eduardo Mondlane University Rural Development Master Course), as Agriculture and Rural Development facilitator (Post-Graduate School of Agriculture and Rural Development of the University of Pretoria), as Public Policy Promotion facilitator (Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Zimbabwe), as Value Chain Development expert (SNV, IFAD, AGRA, EU, USAID), as Rural Finance trainer of trainers (IFAD, World Vision, USAID and Project HOPE), as Social welfare manager (SOS Children’s Villages, USAID, AFRICARE and Project HOPE), as Conservation Biologist (University of Cape Town, Helvetas, and Gorongosa National Park), as Organizational development (capacity building advisor for USAID and SOSCV), as agribusiness specialist (IFAD/GoM, and founder and manager of agricultural production and marketing company with 300 ha in Manica, 10 ha in Gaza and 5 ha in Maputo), and Education activist (created the first non-government owned secondary school after independence and managed it in voluntary base for 8 years).
