Hermenegildo Matimele, a multi-skilled specialist with a PhD Degree in Biodiversity Management from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, is currently Project Technical Coordinator at WCS. He is also head of the Southern Africa Plant Specialist Group under the Species Survival Commission of the IUCN. Dr. Matimele holds over 15 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, including fieldwork in Mozambique, KBA identification for marine and terrestrial environments and IUCN Red Listing of species. Dr. Matimele has recently been involved in carrying out the Red Listing of ecosystems in Mozambique. He holds strong experience in managing multiple tasks and projects, working effectively within limited time frames. Notable projects include the spatial biodiversity assessment, prioritization and planning (SBAPP); identification of KBAs for Mozambique, led by WCS; spatial prioritization of Maputaland and the whole of Mozambique.
