I am holding a Degree at Eduardo Mondlane University and a diploma by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants at UK. I have been preparing the budget and forecast of the Estate Agriculture Department for three years, which is the highest budget in Maragra Sugar SA, a subsidiary of ABF group based in United Kingdom. Also I have been doing the budget of the Cane growers linked to Maragra and preparing Capital Budget for the acquisition of assets of more than a certain value, in terms of costs, according to the Maragra policies. I am budgeting &forecasting for both fixed and variable costs and direct and indirect costs. The major budget items are productions costs, crop removal, production overheads and depreciation. Some examples of the budget are as follows: Seasonal labor; Permanent employees; Cane Loading& Haulage; Fertilizer and Chemical; Drainage maintenance; Road maintenance; Fuel; Mechanical and electrical materials; Dick maintenance; irrigation material; building materials; Protective clothes, e.t.c. In Agriculture department there is 13 budget holders and almost 1000 Cost Centers to fill the budget line by line, all under my responsibility, namely: 1. The Head of Department; 2. Seven Farms 3. Optimization manger; 4. Agriculture Engineer; 5. Cane Supply; 6. Shared production costs and 7. Out growers I know all the technical cost drivers, so that I can question the numbers requested by the budget holders. Beside budgeting & forecasting, I am the one who control all the costs and ensure there is no misallocated cost by the month end when we send our Financial Statements. Every month end, I must prepare the Variance Report to the head of Department, where we compare the budget Vs Actual and write down the explanation of all material cost movements. I manage the accounts payable to Agric suppliers in order to ensure that they are paid not too early nor too late by collecting all the invoices and proceed accordingly. I have advanced excel
