CONTACT is recruiting a E&I Supervisor, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
- Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer and the Special Project Coordinator, the main activities of the position includes to: inspire safety commitment in Company and contractors and subcontractor’s teams via deep knowledge of HSE and leadership by example
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements across works to promote a healthy and safe work environment; the supervisor shall ensure that construction activities are performed as per project requirements and specifications, in terms of construction methods, safety, quality and schedule; the E&I supervisor is responsible for ensuring the site works are properly managed and executed by the contractor and their approved subcontractors in accordance with the contract agreement; assist to gather and validates "lessons learnt" from all project team and provides feedback thus contributing to the continuous improvement of the E&I team safety awareness and performance
- Maintains close work relationship with contractors, prepares for, and participates in daily progress meetings; prepare, coordinate and monitor construction activities, as per project requirements and construction procedures, by maintaining close relationship with contractors
- Ensure strong physical presence at Site to demonstrate safety commitment, technical oversight and immediate reporting to his management for all technical or coordination issues or potential risks, as well as any HSE incident; check the availability and fitness of the contractor’s construction equipment; check the adequacy of the contractor’s personnel mobilisation and demobilization
- Support the affiliate on the overall process of projects execution, it includes preparation of scope of works, support on contracts strategies definitions, preparation, and evaluations of call for tenders, participation on technical reviews, supervision activities at site, documents management, projects close outs and any other activities that the projects require for a successful completion
- Subject to the projects scope of the work, the discipline supervisor can have a role of leading a project or to provide assistance in the electrical discipline; participate to all quality surveillance programs and inspect the works per discipline as directed in the approved ITPs
- Check the engineering documents, in his discipline, prepared by the contractor and to give prompt comments and/or approval, in accordance with the contract procedures and requirements; check the incorporation of such comments by the contractor; participate in the technical reviews
- Review and comment contractors’ procedures and clarify methods and services activities related to electrical works; in close cooperation with engineering and construction teams assists to preparation of answers to contractors’ queries; responsible for verification of progress reporting of construction activities per discipline
- Attend projects meetings when required; issue daily and weekly progress report on construction activities to the project management team; be familiar with Company information systems (ex. ICAPS, Internal Referential STOP card or equivalent); participate to all necessary project planning meetings to ensure a smooth resolution of all technical issues, prior any impact to schedule or cost, as well by anticipating such issues as required
Requisites
- A degree/diploma qualification or equivalent in related discipline field and/or Oil & Gas construction projects
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in related discipline works and a suitable general knowledge in industrial projects
- Full understanding of areas critical to the success of industrial projects: safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk
- Good level of knowledge on electrical plant equipment (switchgear, protection relays, generators, transformers, electrical motors, ATEX / Ex equipment, battery systems, etc) construction, its inspection, maintenance, and repair
- Understanding of electrical power system control and operation
- Good electrical operational safety knowledge
- Strong HSE culture and safety leadership, effective communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decisions
- Strong English and Portuguese written and verbal communication skills required
- Speaking French is advantageous
- Living in the local area of the job is an advantage
