  • Project Summary: MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics is a new USAID funded program initiated in September 2020 and active through September 2025. Through a consortium of partners led by EngenderHealth, this project expands awareness of, equitable access to, and appropriate use of quality, voluntary surgical maternal health (MH) and family planning (FP) services that are essential to reducing maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity and promoting reproductive health (RH). MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics focuses on surgical obstetric care, including safe and indicated cesarean delivery (CD) and peripartum hysterectomy prevention and treatment of obstetric and iatrogenic fistula; and voluntary long-acting reversible contraceptives and permanent methods (LARCs/PMs)
  • Job Summary: The Finance Intern will generally be responsible for coordinating all vendor payments, ensure staffs advances are processed on time with all necessary documentation, facilitate payments in workshops/training She/he will also assist in receiving and recording the Travel Expense Reports (TERs) and do any other duty assigned by the supervisor
  • Number Of Vacant Position: One (1)
  • Period: Seven (7) months

  • Reports To (Title Only): Finance & Administration Manager
Duties
  • Manage and coordinate payment process, staff travel/workshop advance and adhere to standing operating procedures
  • Receive and Log all Travel Authorization Form (TAF), Travel Expense Report (TER) and Invoices before passing for processing
  • Assist both the Finance Manager and the Procurement Associate in the process of TAF (Travel Authorization Form)/TER (Travel Expense Report) review
  • Take lead in proper filling of all financial documents for smooth data retrieval including stamping of paid voucher’s and labelling of archived files
  • Ensuring all vouchers have invoices, receipts, delivery notes and other required documents before filing
  • Make sure that all vouchers are adequately secured under lock and Key
  • Assist the Finance Manager with general accounting month-end closing procedures
  • Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring financial reports are ready to be sent to HQ (Head Quarter) in a timely manner
  • Ensure all transactions are in compliance with the organization’s accounting policy, Donor requirement and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality of all financial and other job-related information
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager on bank issues like:
  • Follow up bank statements
  • Bank cash, cheques in a timely fashion
  • Perform any other duties as will be guided by his/her supervisor
Requisites
  • Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • At least 1-year relevant practical experience in an NGO setting in Mozambique
  • Experience working with a USAID supported project will be an advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and move accounting files
